Assertiveness Communication for Native Women Workshop

HR Balance LLC is collaborating with Kay Knott to present a series of workshops focusing on the Native American community.  With the intention of incorporating Native cultural aspects into the workshops, our first endeavor is a workshop entitled, Assertiveness Communication Skills for Native Women and Women Working in the Native Community.

This day-long workshop has specific learning outcomes which are designed to achieve a balance for Native women living and working in two worlds (the Native world and non-Native world).  Those learning outcomes include:
  • Recognizing the difference between passive, aggressive, and assertive behavior & communication.
  • Developing an understanding on how gender and culture can create obstacles toward effective communication.
  • Working toward assertive behavior is working toward respect.
  • Learning to communicate respectfully – with honor.
  • Establishing how to better communicate in the workplace.
  • Emphasizing how information and techniques help with communication at home.
  • Establishing positive processes to deal with criticism, stress, and disappointment.
  • Understanding how saying “No” is a form of respect.
